The working group Research On Societies in Europe (ROSE) calls for an approporiate consideration of the Social Sciences and Humanities in the next European Framework Programme Horizon Europe.

ROSE is a working group of German EU-Liaison officers aiming at strengthening the role of research on societies in the European Research Area. In its position paper, ROSE calls for a significant increase of the budget of the "Horizon Europe" cluster on Inclusive and Secure Societies.

While the European Commission proposed 2.8 billion Euro for the entire cluster, ROSE suggests a budget of 3 billion euros only for the three areas of intervention on Democracy, Cultural Heritage and Social and Economic Transformations. Furthermore, ROSE proposes missions on strengthening the European idea, reducing the unemployment rate among young people and lowering the number of citizens with difficulties in literacy and numeracy.
