Horizon 2020
Horizon 2020 was the 8th EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. With a budget of €75 billion, Horizon 2020 ran for 7 years from 2014 to 2020.
Horizon 2020 focused on 3 main areas: The first pillar focused on basic research; the second, the Industrial Leadership pillar, aimed to support breakthrough technologies that underpin innovation in all sectors; and the third pillar, was directed towards 7 priority areas in which funding for research and innovation should have a real impact on Europe's citizens.
