Europe Needs You!

Climate change, the energy transition, digitalisation, and gender equality – these are just a few of the global challenges that Europe and its future generations will have to face. The scale of the issues is so immense that only a joint global effort can address them.

Horizon Europe brings together researchers and innovators from across the continent to tackle the knowledge and technology aspects of these global challenges. The world-class Swiss research institutions and companies are contributing significantly to the solutions. So far, they have participated in 473 Horizon Europe collaborative projects, with funding from the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation.

In 2023, with €13.5 billion, Horizon Europe enters the second part of the 7-year programme, which will be halfway by the end of 2024. There will be 2 major waves of deadlines this year: the first in spring and the second in autumn. Consortia have already started forming and are currently looking for partners to fill specific 'expertise gaps'. Proposals are being shaped and the intense phase of grant writing is about to start or has already. Even the European Research Council (ERC) has a collaborative funding scheme, the Synergy Grant, where Swiss entities are eligible to apply and receive funding.

The Euresearch Network of experts is at your side every step of the way, right up to the moment your coordinator presses the “submit” button. We hope you will make use of our experience and expertise.

At some point, the blurry Swiss-EU political relationship will clear and Switzerland will become an Associated Country again. Those who were able to maintain or build-up their European network, despite the current situation, will be ready to fully leverage their expertise. And Europe will be glad to have Helvetia helping to find solutions for future generations.
