EIC Accelerator

The EIC (European Innovation Council) Accelerator is a funding instrument/tool for empowering individual SMEs to develop and scale up breakthrough innovations with high risk and high impact. The support consists of a grant component of up to EUR 2.5 million and an investment component in the form of equity financing or guarantees between EUR 0.5 million and EUR 15 million. Successful applicants have access to a range of Business Acceleration Services.

Key Information

Swiss eligibility:

As a non-EU country, Switzerland has to negotiate the association to Horizon Europe. Currently, Switzerland has the status of a third country. As long as this status remains unchanged, applicants for mono-beneficiary instruments such as the EIC Accelerator are not eligible for participation.

Horizon Europe funding + tender opportunities:
Type of actions:

The EIC Accelerator is a bottom-up instrument and is therefore open to innovations in any field of technology or application. So- called EIC Accelerator Challenges will however focus mainly on digital technologies, health technologies, the Green Deal and sustainable development. The funding rate for all EIC Accelerator instruments is 70 %.

Swiss Accelerator

Call for projects:

After the adoption of transitional measures with respect to Horizon Europe for start-ups and SMEs by the Federal Council, Innosuisse is introducing the Swiss Accelerator and has launched the 2023 call for projects.

Target groups:

This funding opportunity is aimed at individual Swiss start-ups and SMEs with the ambition to quickly and efficiently commercialise project results and scale accordingly.
