What is a Partnership?

European Partnerships are initiatives in which the European Commission and private and/or public partners commit themselves to jointly support the development and implementation of a research and innovation program. They make a significant contribution to achieving the EU's political priorities, such as the Green Deal, Europe's digital strategy or pandemic preparedness.

Partnership Types

There are three types of EU Partnerships:

- Co-Programmed: partnerships between the European Commission and mostly private partners.
- Co-funded: partnerships involving EU countries, with research funders and other public authorities at the core of the consortium.
- Institutionalised: partnerships in the field of research and innovation between the European Commission, EU member states and/or industry.

Swiss Eligibility

Despite Switzerland’s non-association to Horizon Europe, Swiss entities can participate in most of the Partnership calls. Certain rules and exceptions apply depending on the call and partnership. Please refer to each individual Partnership for further information.

- For all institutionalised partnerships (except for EuroHPC), Swiss participants will receive direct funding from SERI.
- For more information Swiss Eligibility in Horizon Europe see Legal & Financial Rules.

Services Offered

For all co-programmed partnerships as well as for the Clean Hydrogen, Innovative Health Initiative and Circular Bio-based Europe partnerships, we offer full support from proposal writing, matchmaking events, etc.
