Signature Date of the EU Programmes Agreement Is Set
Today the date for signing the EU Programmes Agreement (EUPA) has been communicated. It is set for 10 November 2025. This will allow Switzerland to associate retroactively to Horizon Europe, the Euratom programme and the Digital Europe Programme as of 1 January 2025.
The EUPA is part of the Switzerland-EU package and sets the rules for Switzerland’s participation in EU programmes. Although the agreement will be signed ahead of the Swiss-EU package, it remains part of it.
Thanks to a transitional arrangement, researchers and innovators in Switzerland have already been able to fully participate in 2025 calls for proposals under Horizon Europe, the Euratom programme, and the Digital Europe Programme. They can also lead and coordinate projects.
Once the EUPA is signed, project costs of calls 2025 will be funded directly by the European Commission, as Switzerland will pay a mandatory contribution to the EU for this purpose.
