The European Commission is currently holding a series of information events in all Member States and selected Associated Countries to present the European Innovation Council (EIC) proposed under the next "Horizon Europe" Research Framework Programme and deployed as a pilot in a number of upcoming calls under the current Research Framework Programme “Horizon 2020”.
The EIC is an initiative that will provide a novel mix of grants, loans and equity to help small technology companies expand into world-class "unicorns" or start-ups. The EIC is capable of supporting ideas from all areas of technology or business sector, including novel combinations of technologies and business models. Support ranges from feasibility study stage (e.g. proof of concept or development of business plans) to development to scale-up stage.
Deputy Director-General Wolfgang Burtscher of DG Research and Innovation, assisted by specialists from the relevant Directorate, will personally attend the information event and explain the initiative. The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation and Euresearch are jointly organising the event.
