Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry, Marine and Maritime and Inland Water Research and the Bioeconomy

The specific objective is to secure sufficient supplies of safe and high-quality food and other bio-based products, by developing productive and resource-efficient primary production systems and fostering related ecosystem services, alongside competitive and low-carbon supply chains. This will accelerate the transition to a sustainable European bio-economy.

The work programme for 2018-2020 is structured in 3 calls:

    • Sustainable Food Security SFS
Resilient and resource efficient value chains
    • Blue Growth BG
      Demonstrating an ocean of opportunities

    • Rural Renaissance RUR
      Fostering innovation and business opportunities

See introduction on the European Commission website

These activities are complemented by the Joint Technology Initiative on
    Bio-based Industries (JTI BBI).
