The specific objective of the work programme for 2018-2020 is to secure sufficient supplies of safe and high quality food and other bio-based products, by developing productive and resource efficient primary production systems and fostering related ecosystem services, alongside competitive and low-carbon supply chains. This will accelerate the transition to a sustainable European bio-economy. See also the introduction on the European Commission website.
