Euresearch and COVID-19: Business as usual? Not quite!
When work on this issue of our newsletter started, we were all still transfixed by “the virus”. By now, most are looking forward to taking up their cherished habits and necessary routines again. The members of the Euresearch Network are doubly excited, because the Association has a new president at its helm!
At the General Assembly at the end of April—held remotely, of course—the members of the Euresearch Association elected Edwin Constable (University of Basel) and Antonella Santuccione Chadha (Roche Diagnostics) as their new President and Vice-President, respectively. They are taking over from Jean-Marc Rapp and Hans Noser, who stepped down after 8 years of most appreciated service. We say goodbye, but not yet farewell, as we hope to see them both again for the Association's 20-year jubilee in 2021. The new presidency has already taken up its work and we are all very much looking forward to having them help us navigate the various insecurities on the national as well as the European level in the coming months.
Otherwise, the Euresearch Network continues to inform and advise researchers as you might expect, with or without lockdown. Most of us are equipped for and used to working from home, so that you can reach us as usual by mail or telephone. (The odd minor delay caused by home schooling double-tasking should have an end soon too.) Our information and training events will be held as webinars until further notice if they have not been moved to a later date as a function of the European Commission (EC) deadlines.
Please consult the "Events" page on our website for up-to-date information on all our activities. We have also created a dedicated webpage with a list of the most important links on the effects of COVID-19 on Horizon 2020 and related calls or projects. There, you will also find the link to the EC’s webpage on coronavirus-related research and innovation, which is worth checking out. And of course, we will continue to keep you up to date about any new COVID-19 calls and the like with our e-Alerts. If you are not registered yet, this is the time to go to your Euresearch account and do so!
