Profit from insight given on the day-to-day reality of scientific policy advice on the occasion of the event on "Challenges of scientific policy advice".
Food, energy, land use, climate etc. – the resource-hungry, growing population faces many challenges. Science is essential, but not sufficient, for an understanding of the challenges and for the development of effective strategies. Yet, collaboration between science and other sectors of society seems to be wobbly and there are many questions. What kind of science serves society best? How to establish an effective mutual dialogue? How to transfer long-term, global research scenarios to the national policy level?
Anne Glover, Chief Scientific Adviser to the President of the European Commission, and the other experienced speakers will provide insight from the day-to-day reality of scientific policy advice, the challenges they face and the solutions they see.
When: Friday 23 May 2014, 10 – 12 a.m.
Where: Restaurant «Zum Äusseren Stand» in Berne
The event is open to the public and organised by the Swiss Academy for Sciences, including lunch. Presentations and discussions will be in English. Registration is possible until 7 May 2014.
